Hurricane Bertha

Postby hurricane » Fri Jul 04, 2008 10:32 am

Bertha became the earliest storm to form in the far East Atlantic when it formed yesterday near the Cape Verda islands, surpassing another Bertha (July 5th, 1996 as a TD-July 14, 1996) which had formed several hundred miles to the west and 2 days later.

Hurricane Bertha is now one of the longest, early-July storms. Once it finally disappears, we'll see exactly where it falls in the scheme of things, but it has been amazingly persistent.

When Hurricane Bertha became a non-tropical system on Sunday, July 20, 2008, it became the longest lived July hurricane

I don't believe that there has been a Hurricane James and it is not currently on the schedule of names. So, I don't know when there will be one, perhaps it will show up on the list eventually.
