Tropical Storm Fay

The big question for the Southeast United States is where will Fay head next? When will it turn?

We've been suspecting that Fay would form for the last 2-3 days and it has now.

As of 5am the Florida Keys from Key West to Ocean Reef (on Key Largo) is under a hurricane watch and westward up from Ocean Reef to Bonita Beach (near Naples) while Ocean Reef to Jupiter Inlet (and Lake Okeechobee) is under a tropical storm watch.

This indicates that (as the model graphics show, http://www.hurricane.com/hurricane-track.php) that Fay is expected to go along the west coast of Florida. No doubt later today the watches will be extended northward and late tonight or early tomorrow some will be turned into warnings.

It looks like as if the West Coast of Florida is under the gun now, with a Tropical Storm warning from Jupiter Inlet south on the east and from Bonita Beach on the west. Likewise a hurricane watch is in effect for the Florida Keys and up to Tarpon Springs. Finally a Tropical Storm watch is in effect from north of Jupiter Inlet to Sebastian Inlet.

Must of Florida is now under Tropical Storm/Hurricane watches/warnings, including our area with a watch now. Florida will be getting a lot of rain! My cousin in Key West (well, the Key West zip code, but around MM17) said about 5 hours ago that it was starting to clear and was looking good.
