Novemberween: Pumpkin cooking day!

Post by tomanderson » Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:31 pm

Today I have the day mostly off, and it's time to catch up! No work till later!

I went to the store yesterday to get any pumpkins left. They are gone! So I was left with the one little pumpkin I was saving since before Halloween.

I just cooked the small pumpkin and I got a lot of stuff out of it...roasted the seeds, then baked it for a while in the oven till it was soft then cut it up and peeled it and stir fried chunks of it with onion.

I am also making some Cincinnati Chili today and will eat this in the proper way over spaghetti with BRIGHT ORANGE cheddar cheese.

Bride of Frankenstein is playing on the TV.

I'll be making a pumpkin spice cake with a honey frosting for my family.

The decorative-type pumpkins aren't the best for baking. The "pie" or "sugar-pie" pumpkins sold in the produce department at grocery stores aren't as orange or as big, but they are sweeter and have a less grainy texture.
