Ida approaching the USA

The Louisiana government has declared a state of emergency on Hurricane Ida, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091108/ap_ ... al_weather.

Ida hit the Yucatan a couple days ago, and was a tropical depression for a while, but has strengthened back into a C1 hurricane. How will this impact the US? Will it be a hurricane when it hits?

i believe anything is possible, that is what the weather people say. i am trying to find out was there a hurricane that hit the us in nov or dec ? and if so what was the wind strength and what cat it was, and what year and where it hit. hopefully god willin it will just die out and go away

It seems likely it will be a strong TS or a Cat 1 hurricane when it hits. Being relatively late in the season has helped it from becoming a Wilma type storm.

It is definitely looking quite disorganized right now, maybe half a day before landfall. Good news for those people in Ida's path.
