Looks like we'll have Tropical Storm Felix coming around shortly, no threat to the United States as of YET. We'll see within the next 24-48 hours if Felix forms.

As seemed obvious from the satellite pictures yesterday afternoon and evening, the NHC has begun issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Felix as of 5am this morning.

Cat 5 landfall

Postby hurricane » Tue Sep 04, 2007 8:54 am

Following on the heals of Hurricane Dean, Hurricane Felix made landfall as a category 5 storm - the first time since records have been kept that two category 5 storms have made landfall in a single season. Felix had 160 mph winds when it came ashore in Nicaragua, near the Nicaragua-Honduras border. Whether this is due to better tracking and detection is an open question.
