Order of the Phoenix Pics
Tuesday night at midnight was the first showing of the new Harry Potter film. We costumed as MHooch and Professor Snape, and had a BLAST!! As soon as we walked into the theatre lobby, people began coming up to us and admiring the costumes, and chatting. When we entered the auditorium, immediately you could hear the buzz, and as we walked across the front of the place, somebody started clapping, and the whole place started applauding. We took several bows and found some seats. Well, then the manager wanted to take our picture. Then some other folks dressed in costume came over to take our pic, and asked if we would pose with them....well, they kept coming and coming...we wound up doing a photo op for about half an hour! No really little kids (it WAS midnight) but lots of teens and young adults, some really great stuff, two girls dressed as the Weasley twins in Quidditch uniforms that they had sewn themselves, a really cute Tonks with bright pink hair and a shirt that said "Don't call me Nymphadora!", of course lots of Harry's, a few Professor Trelawney's, and lots of just Hogwarts Students. They were all so clever and funny, and we just laughed and had a great time talking with them. (Except for Snape, of course, he NEVER laughs! ) And that was definitely the crowd to be with, so excited about the premiere, clapping and cheering at different points in the movie, really responsive to the action on the screen. Unfortunately, we did not bring our own camera to the theatre . But the manager, right before the movie started, came up to us and thanked us "for making this so much fun" and gave us 4 free passes to the theatre! Wasn't that nice!? Anyway, a great night, a great flick, great fun. And here's a couple pics of us before we left the house:

AWESOME pics Hooch!!! I love the costumes and sounds like you had a great time at the premier. I just went last night and had a blast, but the premiers are always the best to go to when you really love a movie.
Thanks for sharing the photos!

I think it's great when people dress up to go see their favorite fantasy movies...reminds me of the Rocky Horror thing...when I went to see "Revenge of the Sith," there were actually quite a few people dressed as characters...this was a midnight sneak preview, too, but there were lots of serious folks there, dressed as Jedi and whatnot, lots of lightsabers.

That's one of my goals for this year, tomanderson, to go to a midnight Rocky Horror show...I've never been.
And DOD, I bought the robes from a website called Grandin Road, and the rest of my costume is just regular clothes (Black pants, boots, white shirt, man's tie, and a whistle I found at a pet store!) The long-tailed suit coat that Den wore under his robe was rented from the local Halloween shop, (actually an Abraham Lincoln costume!) and he just wore his own black pants and shoes, with a white shirt peeking out. The wig is from the same local Halloween shop, with a little cutting and styling by yours truly. Most website costume shops are catching on to reality and offer most costumes in "plus" sizes nowadays.
