How To Make Tombstones For Halloween

Post by magickbean » Fri Aug 03, 2007 9:20 am

Hey guys, I just found this on YouTube - it's a clip from the makers of Big Scream TV and it is a really cool tutorial for making styrofoam tombstones - they look so simple I can't wait to get going with them!

Great find - I have always wanted to make my own tombstones but my problem has been finding that styrofoam. Someone mentioned hardware store but what department would that be in?

I was thinking the same thing - we have two stores here in the UK - B&Q and Homebase, I was going to try just going in and asking them if they had any lol :)

Hey Magickbean, Awesome Link for making Tomestones. I've had a few links saved in the past, but they were just written instructions, this is much easier to understand when you are like me and very visual~HUGS~ for posting such a great link :D

Mandy, I think that stuff is in the insulation area...I'm sure if you ask an associate they could tell you.

Dutchess - No problem! I am a very visual person and need to see things done practically before my eyes or I get all confused  hehe

What time is it right now? Hmm for me it's 8:46pm.. starting to get dark :)

It is in the insulation part of the stores.I made 8 this year out of flower styrofoam nothing fancy but I am pleased.I used a big piece and cut it the way I wanted it and hot glued it to a smaller thicker piece to make a base.I used spray paint -it made it look really weathered(it eats it).I either carved a eipitate (sp?) before I sprayed or carved after and took a screwdriver of all things to fill in the carving with paint. If I carved before I painted I left it as is.Everybody who see's them says they look real. The largest one is 3ft with about a 8 inch base.I perfer the green craft styrofoam to the white.I found some styrofoam pieces at lowes that was a package of 8 pieces 4 ft tall and 1 ft wide I made a 4 sided open top tombstone with the top peaked on all 4 pieces my version of a oblisque(sp again) tombstone.I made two.
One I am going to have a devil coming out of it.
Halloween all year would be great.
