A really sad story

Post by spookyboo » Sun Aug 19, 2007 12:06 am

I was so excited to go to TJ Maxx today because they already have Halloween Items out in our store. Its a Home store so it had like 3 isles of Halloween. I was just browsing and came up behind two women and one was saying to the other and I quote "Can you belive they already have Halloween out, what kind of freak would buy Halloween now?"

My jaw dropped and I was very offended. So I waited a bit they hadn't seen me yet
by the way I dress year round completely in black. I walked right up to them and said excuse me this freak needs to see the Halloween stuff your blocking.

It was this womans turn to drop her jaw...LOL she didn't say another word and walked away. well this post started out sad but ended happy ..hehe

HA!!!! Right on, Spookyboo! you tell 'em!
I might've even gone a step further and said something like....

"You know, in this day and age, that, what you just said, is very intollerant and even discriminating! WHAT OTHER 'HATE-CRIMES' HAVE YOU COMMITED TODAY?!?!?! OUT OF MY WAY, YOU ZEALOT HALLOWEENAPHOBE OR I'M CALLING THE ACLU!!!!!!!!!"

Hey Spookyboo, I run into those kinds of folks almost daily during my Halloween rounds to stores, and I have my own little come backs for them as well, but you can't take what they say to heart, some people just aren't sensitive to others feelings and interests. By the way I just love how you "kicked <deleted>" with such an awesome comment.! :D

It is, in a way, sort of a sad story. These two ladies were just talking, they probably didn't intend the comment to be overheard by anyone...it was just your typical "criticize certain people so I can feel superior" discussion. But just think, you might have actually frightened these people--you very likely did, considering that they scooted away quickly when you identified yourself as the type of "freak" they were down on. It must have been quite a moment! I applaud the fact that you let your outrage be known without being overtly rude or angry.

...of course by the time they told the story to the girls at the bridge club you had turned into a satanist in league with Damian...by next year you will be oozing sulpher and brimstone..
but that was a GREAT line..congrats..
Future events such as these will effect you in the future

Way to represent Spookyboo! Those "ladies" are probably regular church-going, charity mavens whose lack of tolerance for most anyone outside their narrow point of view is well hidden under their cloak of righteousness. I commend you for a great comeback.

Hey, look at it this way: The stores put this stuff out because it sells. There's an audience for it. Those ladies were just silly whackos.

***Hooch is standing up, applauding***

Three cheers for spookyboo!
Those women hadn't a clue.
She gave them what for,
Showed them they were a bore,
And now on their words they can chew!
