Happy 4th of July!

Post by witchy » Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:44 am

Happy 4th of July everyone, I hope you have a safe and wonderful day weekend!

My work gave us off July 4th & 5th, yeah!!

Does anyone have any plans for the 4th? I think we are staying home and having a few friends over swimming and watching Stranger Things season 3.

Well, I promised myself that I would use all the self-discipline I could muster and only spend $250.00 on fireworks this year. After all was said and done, I ended up spending $500.00. Hey, I'm only 100% over budget. (narf narf)

WOW, $500.00 for fireworks, you must love it!

I for one am not a big fan of fireworks unless they are being set off over an ocean and I don't have to pay for them; then I love them!!

Well, you're not alone in that. A lot of people like to be spectators, but I've been lighting wicks since I was 9 year old. I was in love with fireworks since lit off that first smoke ball and filled my back yard with red smoke. Then we would all go to a huge family party which included extended family and the adults would set off our own fireworks display. When I got a little older myself I got to help out with both obtaining fireworks and lighting them off for our main family display.

We don't do that any more, and I do have to be a little more careful as I'm not as spry as I use to be. It says on the instructions to "light fuse and get away." I can still light a fuse, but I'm not as fast at the 'get away' part any more. I still have fun with them, though.

Happy and safe Fourth, one and all!

I attended a family reunion in NC last weekend. Today should be more laid-back. A swim in the a.m., grilling in the afternoon, municipal fireworks tonight.

That's pretty much what a lot of people do for the 4th of July these days, all though there have been firecrackers and other small devices going off all day in the neighborhood, and someone was setting off some pretty hefty ariel bombs.

We had a family pot luck today.

Grilled chicken, mac salad, baked beans...everything.

I'm laying down in front of the TV in a food coma.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

We BBQ, swam in the pool and had a few drinks, it was nice and relaxing! We could see some of the fireworks going off in our pool, that's the way I like watching them, in water.

I'm going to grill up some bratwurst for the Anniversary of the Apollo 11 on the 20th. I did burgers and dogs on the grill for the 4th.
