Timing suggestion: Holding this get-together in the weeks before Halloween might prove less expensive, less crowded, and according to the Massachusetts Office of Tourism, with better fall foliage.
For example, according to this year's calendar, Salem will have its Haunted Happenings Grand Parade on Oct. 4, Spirits of the Gables on Oct. 5, Autumn Colonial Days on Oct. 6, and Legacy of the Hanging Judge on Oct. 7.

Salem Photos
I scrounged around and am a little disappointed that I can't find the CD with more of the Burying Point images on it.... but I did find these Salem, photos (We-- my roommates and I-- took them mid-late Sept 2005). Enjoy!
Hawthorne Hotel:
$207.33 was what three of us paid for one room (two queens) for one night at the Hawthorne Hotel. I'm a goob and I saved the reciept and parking pass. Hehehe.
Outside the Hotel
Hallway
Inside the Room
My roommate's expression upon discovering yet another closet!
To be fair for posting a roommate photo... here's a really bad photo of me pretending to be "livin' it up"
Burying Point:
Salem's Oldest Cemetery... I know I have more photos of this-- they're in my scrapbook. I can't find the CD I'm too lazy to scan tonight...
Burying Point
Things to See:
N. Hawthorne Statue
Pirate Museum
Salem Shops-- this one is nearLaurie Cabot's Shop
A cool looking boat...
If I can find my other CD or am inclined to scan pages from my scrapbook, then I can post more later. =)

I think it would be just so Fantastic to go Mammahooch, wouldn't it just be so awesome! But, it would sure take some serious saving for me to go.
OEJ, I love riding the Greyhound, I use to do 3 day trips, and thats just one way, then I'd have to return, I did that every month for over 4 years to go see my sweetie But no really, I don't mind the long rides, I meet lots of wonderful and interesting people, see beautiful places so its all good. I'd love to do the Train, but I think the costs on that have gone through the roof?

Alright now, a mid October get-together I definitely could handle! Sure would love to party with you guys, because already you're the coolest bunch of people I've ever 'met'. I was wondering what the Hawthorne Hotel's Halloween Ball was when you mentioned it earlier, MHooch- thanks to you Jadewik, now I have some great pics to go by!
Yeah, Dutchess, I too share your dislike for planes, but for you guys I'd consider it. Did anybody ever see that show, the 'A-Team'? I'd have to give myself a huge dose of Mr. T's milk to make me pass out until the flight was over.

You know.... there really would be nothing cooler than being able to get together with everyone..... Correct me, if I'm wrong, but wasn't the whole idea of getting together at THIS Halloween, in 2009 BECAUSE of its particular uniqeness?
If not, let's get together THIS Halloween, or the year after.....
See what I mean? How many times in a life time does Halloween fall both on a Saturday, WITH a full moon???
It's two years away, PERFECT amout of time to prepare for the ultimate halloween event, right?

Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
I stand corrected, Cadaverino. Thanks for heads up. I really DO try to be as accurate as possible. Syntax, puncuation and overall good grammar is usually very important to me.Cadaverino wrote:Huh?One Eye'd Jack wrote: Correct me, if I'm wrong, but wasn't the whole idea of getting together at THIS Halloween, in 2009 BECAUSE of its particular uniqeness?

This Halloween is 2007. That Halloween is 2009.
And I'm not just being a weisenheimer. Thanks.

Did you check the room prices for their Halloween ball?
Under Hawthorne Halloween -> Room Packages (click on registration form)
Rates include 2 nights and two tickets to the Halloween Ball.
Room packages range from $545 for a single, full to $1150 for a 2-bdrm suite with a 4-poster queen and a couch bed (I've rounded to the highest $5).
Also, I noticed you can't book more than a year in advance. 7am November 1st of the year before the party you're going to attend is the earliest you can book a room for the ball.
