I read something one time about having a wooden chair with arms for the "medium" and having their arms tied to the arms of the chair. (To prove to your "audience" that nothing funny will go on) The trick is, the arms of the chair are loose, so that the "medium" can slip their arms free and manipulate objects. Worked well with flourescent objects on the table and only a dim blacklite to make them glow. When the lights go out, they then appear to be moving on their own. Make sure your "medium" wears long dark sleeves and dark gloves, that way their skin will be virtually invisible in the dark. We did a test run and it worked well, but then never got to use it at a party.
