Kids Are Back To School! Woo Hoo!!!

I sent off three little girls to school today Kindergarten, 1st, and 4th. Anyone else's start and what grades are they in?

Does this mean we can officially start talking about Halloween in the real world? I've had numerous people say at least let the kids get back to school before I start jamming Halloween down their throats. Hey... I'm just trying to spread the cheer.

I think August is too early for school. When I was in grammer school, we never had to go back until September. And then we allways got Labor Day off. I didn't have to be back to school in August until high school.

I noticed that some of the bigbox stores are advertising Halloween stuff on their homepage now! Back to school is now officially over and we can now plan for Halloween! It doesn't feel very Fall-like here though, it's still hot! I agree that August is a little too early for school but That's ok. When I was in school, I didn't go back till Sept. 8, at least it's a little cooler then ya know? Well, that means I gotta at least break out a few decorations hehe

It was either September of 98 or 99, it was so hot in my town, they actualy had a school closing. The school was not airconditioned, and it was very h umid and 98 degrees.

same here.. in elementary i always went back in september but these days kids are only getting like 2 months of summer... ahhh what a bummer for them

There are a couple districts here where the kids go year round. I think they go for a month and a half then get a couple weeks off. This continues throughout the year. I'd rather do the traditional thing.

All schools here in Norfolk/Virginia Beach area won't open after Labor's Day.

As I recall we started back the Wed before Labor day and then had that 3 day weekend.
I remember getting to stay up all night to watch the Jerry Lewis telethon.

I remember the Jerry Lewis Telethon. I was never really into it myself, but when you saw it advertised on tv in those last weeks of August, you knew that 'back to school' was just around the corner. I also hated it when they would do 'back to school' advertising in the middle of July.

I think I go back to the dark, damp prison they call school on August 31.

Well at least it's the very last day of August. I remember having to go back, when I was in high school, as early as August 25th. At the other end of the spectrum, we didn't get out of school until June 10th or 11th in most years I was in high school.

Although starting school is a bummer to many kids, there is a silver lining for us Halloween lovers. Whenever school begins you know that Halloween and the fall season is not far behind the corner. Stores will get rid of the back to school junk, and will start putting out Halloween decor in it's place. It will be long now my friends.
