Official Halloween.com Member Map

Post by MyersFan1 » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:17 am

I saw this while snooping on some other forum (also saw how our forum is far more superior) and I came across this member locator that I thought was really cool and a good idea. It's a map I created just for Halloween.com to show the cities where our wonderful members reside. It gives us all a better idea where we are and I think that's important for close knit group like us! Members can join if they want but it is perfectly fine if you don't wish too. If you are interested then click on the link and click join in the top right corner of the map. PLEASE POST ONLY YOUR CITY AND NOT YOUR HOME ADDRESS! Naturally, that is just for general safety issues (not that I don't trust you guys, but you can never be too sure about those lurkers.... ). The cities that members live in are marked with a skull on the map. When posting the city you live in please use your member name and avatar just as I did so you can easily be recognized. I think this could be a lot of fun for the forum and is a great addition.

You could do the same thing with Google maps. And everyone could attach an image of their home haunts. Also, we could drop down to street view and check out each other's cities. Here's one I had bookmarked.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Done.

Is there a larger view of the map?
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I actually don't think you can view it any larger which is kind of odd. Looks like were on opposite coasts Andybev. Isn't it great how technology can bring people so far away from each other so close.

I wouldn't even give away my town.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

You can zoom out and at least see the whole of the U.S. It helps.

This was a good idea. I think I have problems talking with people on the internet I've never met. I HAVE to put a face or a place or a name or something to the person I'm talking to. My brain just can't handle talking to someone "anonymously" :P It's a weird concept if you think about it. The map helps just that much more :)

The alternative to putting your particular town or city is to put one nearby.... or the major metropolis near you... like if I lived in BullHead City, AZ... I'd probably put Laughlin, NV as my location.

Added m'self to the map.

WHOA, I'm the exact same way and I that is why I thought this would be a great idea, for members like yourself and I. I think that this thread and the Halloween.com member photo thread are both crucial and necessary in having a close forum. Again, thanks to everyone that has joined! Were slowly building up across the continent.

I'm all alone on the east coast! Where are all of my east coast haunters, show yourselves
