That Halloween Tune

Post by Boo » Tue Oct 20, 2009 3:18 am

So which bit of music works for you in the run up to the big day?

For me it's two:

and

The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.

.
Oh, anything by Midnight Syndicate or Nox Arcana. Though Mannheim Steamroller is quickly moving up the charts.

There are many...but what comes to my head first are:
Judas Priest - 'The Ripper'
'Love Bites'
Ozzy - 'Diary of a Madman'
'Bark at the Moon'
Warren Zevon - 'Werewolves of London'

Screamin' Jay Hawkins - 'I put a Spell on you'

Iron Miaden - 'Children of the Damned'
'666 The Number of the Beast'
'Hallowed be thy Name'

There are many more but those are a few
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well

i dig some classicals during halloween as well :)
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Good choice!
Witches of Eastwick was a great movie too, one of my favorites.
Jack Nicholson as the devil...perfect! hehe

Yeah gotta love Jack Nicholson.

It's a great film with loads of subtleties, it works for me ever Halloween.

Thanks to everyone for the music info, I'll check out some of those I don't know on U-Tube

My fav is Practical magic & the song the witches sing around the table,
Harry Nilsson - Coconut Lyrics. I sang this with my girls every Friday in the month of Oct. for years, every once in while the girls still want to get to gether with their friend & come over & we all sing & dance that song. Oh yes we watch the movie too. Thanks, Witchy

There's a song out there too called 'Night of the Vampire"
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well

Usually around this time of year, I find myself listening to Gothic Folk and Neoclassical Horror music more in the month of October than any other month of the year. To get me in the mood on Halloween day, I listen to Nox Arcana.
