What Kind of Tree Do You Have?

Post by sueluvshalloween » Fri Dec 04, 2009 9:42 am

What kind of tree do you have? Is it green, white or a color? Is it real or artificial? If it's real, do you chop it down yourself? Is it big or small? How many do you have?

In my family room, I have a nice fat tree, 7-1/2-ft-tall -- it's green with a slightly bluish tint, so maybe it's a blue spruce? It's artificial -- I've had it for nine years and bought it at Wal-Mart for $50. I also have a 4-ft-tall skinny Adirondak pine that I keep up all year long on the floor in front of my fireplace. On each end of my mantle, I have two small trees just like the one on the floor, and another tabletop-sized pine tree on my entertainment unit. There's another one on the end of my breakfast bar. In my formal living room, I have a white, pre-lit (white lights) 6-1/2-ft-tall, which I got at Wal-Mart for $35. I never thought I'd ever want a white tree, but because of the way I dressed up my mantle, the tree I originally had in that room didn't work, which I moved up to our spare bedroom, which is used as a game room or, as my husband calls it, his "Man Room." On each end of the mantle, I have two pre-lit silver tinsel trees and some tiny bottle-brush trees, which I bleached out to make them look vintage. I want to add glitter to them. I also have other trees throughout my house -- every room has to have a tree.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

You'd better grab your watering can and get right to it, Adrian! I don't want to end up reading a post about how your house burnt down because your tree was too dry.

Woe Sue, sounds like a forest in there!

I like to do the same. The official tree is a real noble fir usually around 6-7 foot, depends on the shape when we looking for one.

I have a 3' fake tree with a collection of mini ornaments that I have collected over the years, it sports my favorite tree ornament, a glass Nutcracker soldier topper.

There are various types other decorative trees all over the house (housekeeper hates me...)
and I bought one of those silver tinsel trees last year, like you described.

It's like a Unitarian Church for trees around Christmas at my house :-) All are welcome.

I have a big Douglas fir in my living room and some little artificials scattered throughout the house. Like on my stair landing. Mantle.
I'm not tree-crazy, but I scatter branches in with the poinsettias for the scent. It smells like heaven in here!

I do have 2 Christmas trees, one is green and the another one is white.

Anyway, did anyone remember my old thread "Christmas Tree, but...." and it was removed. Do you remember?

I'm picturing the scene from 'Christmas Vacation' here.

Don't get me started on the subject of beans! My husband has been on this "diet" for the last three years -- not to lose weight, just to keep his heart healthy since his dad died in his early 60s from heart-related issues -- so all he eats are beans, salad, fruit, vegetables, Boca Burgers, oatmeal (as a treat), and nuts on occasion. No oils or fats whatsoever, or meat, poultry, or seafood. I feel like all I do is cook beans! One of these days, I'm probably going to have a nightmare involving an army of angry beans! :x

My tree is a real Scotch Pine which will be going up tonight after I get home from work, and I will be having my Tree Trimming Party tomorrow, all day long.

The good news is that I have my new camera, so I will be taking pictures for sure.

My roommate MADE me go out and buy a tree this year. Somehow I've managed to make it through my whole life without ever having one, never been a big fan of the holiday. Well... I sure taught her a lesson! See picture below. They are available at Home Depot.
