Christmas trees of all colors

Post by DemonSlayerMau » Sat Dec 05, 2009 11:40 pm

I've begun to notice at Walmart, and other places, that there are other tree varieties out there besides your standard green. Now, I've always been fond of those white trees and wouldn't mind having one someday, I really think they're pretty and they remind me of the snow outside and the wintery feeling you get. White trees have been around for a long time.
Now however, they've got other colors out there, purple, blue, red just to name a few. Even black (if you want to go for something more Halloween-esque that's probably what I would use a black tree for)
I think I'd like a colored tree just because I like being different. What do you guys think? Do you like all the new brilliant colors they're coming out with, or would you rather just stick with the traditional green?
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I've always had green trees (I have a bunch of trees all throughout my house, various types and sizes), but I just purchased a white tree for my formal living room. I originally had a green one in that room, but because of the theme I decided to go with this year, the green one didn't work. I decided to go with a silver/white/snowy/vintage look and actually wanted to get a silver tinsel tree for the room, but they cost a little more than I wanted to spend this year, so I thought if I didn't get the tinsel tree, I'd go for a white one. It's pre-lit with clear lights and I've decorated it with silver beads and silver balls. Some are shiny, dull (like a pewter) and the others are dark silver glitter. I also hung glittery pewter snowflakes. For the skirt I used a white sheet. It looks beautiful. I never in a million years thought I'd ever own a white tree. Have you ever seen the movie "Goodfellas?" There's that scene later in the movie where the Hill family is celebrating Christmas and they have a white tree with purple ornaments. I thought that was the tackiest thing I'd ever seen!

Now about black trees, although they seem out of place for Christmas and more suitable for Halloween, I can see it working for Christmas. If you like penguins and are doing a penguin theme, it can definitely work.

I love that tacky seventies gangsta Goodfellas white Christmas tree so much, when I worked at Lowes a few years back I bought a 6'ft white pre-lit tree (that sounds almost exactly like yours) for $25 (after Christmas price + employee discount)!! Instead of purple balls I use blue...cause that's just how I roll, dawg!

I'd love to see pictures of your white tree, if you have any...

Makes me glad that I'm not gay. Could you imagine how hard it would be to find a rainbow
colored tree?

i think i'll stick to green :) yea yea... green
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Oh, you watch -- there are trees in just about every color imaginable, so I'm sure rainbow-colored will be next.

I'd love to show you guys pictures of my decorations, but all my pictures are taken using a standard camera (my husband lost our digital camera while on a business trip out of the country!), and I don't have a scanner. If I could figure out how to do this, I would.

If you're getting a roll of 35mm film developed, I think they give you the option to get your pics on a cd as well.... Don't know what it costs, but....

I can't imagine life without a digital camera. Tell you what, Sue... I'll have a word with Santa for you. 8)
