When will we get the planning for such an event started. I'd kinda like to know who I'm buying for so I can get to know their tastes, likes and dislikes as I really enjoy buying whoever I'm buying for something that I know they will cherish and love. Not just any ol thing because its an exchange, so would there be a name draw in advance?

I love gift exchanges!!!
Ooga Booga...I am sure you can come up with something fabulous for the exchange. We would love to have you participate!
Dutchess-to answer your question, last year we signed up around the last two weeks of Sept. (the sign-up deadline was Oct. 1st) I then assigned partners and sent everyones address, wishlist, etc that day.( Most people who participated were on the board and farily active throughout Sept and leading up to the big day, so I had a good idea who would participate.) You had until the 15th of October (at the latest) to mail your gifts. Last year was the first year we did it as I was a fairly new member to this site, so it was kind of thrown together. If there are any ways to improve it, please let me know. Im not the "official" one in charge, I just came up with the idea and coordinated each members info.

Thanks, Dutchess! I love your enthusiasm, too!
Hey, let's have a practice run now. It will be fun to see what we can come up with in May to send to a Halloween gift exchange, right? Some of us (okay, most of us) probably have unopened, unused things from clearance sales already, and you never know what you might find at the dollar stores or Michael's!

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.
