Do you have a special way to carve a pumpkin?

Pumpkin Graveyard

Post by NeverMore » Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:49 am

So sad... all that work and we have to consign them to their everlasting sleep. In my case the graveyard is the yard waste collection bin. Were did you bury yours?

If you didn't already see them, here's what they looked like in their prime of life... viewtopic.php?p=127503#p127503

Below is what they looked like today.

Now excuse me. I'm just too emotional to continue posting. Image

There's a ravine down the hill from the house, they get thrown in and slowly rejoin the earth.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I used to throw mine away in the garbage, but a year or two ago I realized that was stupid. So now I throw them near the back of my property and let them decay back there. We live on a double lot, and the back part of it is somewhat woodsy.

I haven't done that yet, though. Ours are still holding their shape, so I will wait until they go moldy or collapse.

I bagged up and tossed my brother and niece's jack-o-lanterns in the trash. I was afraid of bugs...

I thought about doing a compost pile too Murf, but my yard is too small and the flies were bad enough as it was with the pumpkins just sitting there on the porch. I'm big into recycling so it's good that the city collects yard waste for their own compost pile at the dump.

We do a lot of recycling too. Our garden waste was collected on Thursday, so off they went.
