Got my fall stuff down from the rafters yesterday. So tempted to put it up a couple weeks early. What would YOU do?

To quote Sheryl Crow, " if it makes you happy."

I'm not sure that once I had it out I could help but put at least SOME of it out

To be honest, I would wait. IMO, it sorta cheapens it. It would be like listening to Christmas music or watching It's A Wonderful Life outside of the Christmas season. There are certain things I do only during their respective seasons, so they continue to seem special. If you put it out early, you might not feel like putting it out at all next year.

Good point Boogeyman that is one of the few things that restrains me.

Since I can't ride the Harley until Labor Day, I have been bitten by the Halloween bug more then usual.

I usually start really thinking about Halloween around the end of July. Unless I get a job soon, I will probably be able to watch all the movies I want. I would rather be working because I want to go to Cedar Point next October for their Halloween event. If I don't get a job until February or later, it will be put off yet another year.

I feel your pain Boogyman. I have, however, decided to just put off looking for one until after the holiday season. Stay at home and enjoy it. Raytheon will pay for some school so I plan to do that after the holidays. I am lucky enough that my husband still has his job, so we're ok.

I'm on the fence when it comes to this subject. I see where Boogeyman is coming from, but at the same time, I always find myself, at the end of October, thinking about how quickly the month went by, and how it feels as if I just decorated. That's never a good feeling. So, I think I vote for a compromise; decorate little by little, with the decorative climax coming by October 1st. Perhaps save your favorite decorations for October.

I don't want to be too nosy, but what lines of work are you all in? Good luck with the search.

Boogyman & Morticia, you might want to start your job search pretty soon, because a lot of retalers hire extra people for the Christmas season, and very often that can turn into a permanent job, or something that can tide you over while you look for something better.

Just a thought.

Yea, I am not sure I can do retail at this point in my life anymore. I certainly can't work late anymore. I don't do well if my sleep schedule is disrupted. I don't need a job to tide me over. I need a permanent job that I can handle. I do not handle sudden changes very well, so jumping from job to job is not an option for me. I am working with a state agency since I have Asperger's Syndrome. If the employer does not understand what that means, I don't stand much of a chance.

But I understand your point. I think I will have a chance once college students go back to school.

Bogeyman & Morticia, hope you job prospects look up. The company I work for laid a bunch of people off in February. I was spared but a friend of mine wasn't. She's still out looking. And we're still waiting to see if more jobs aren't culled.

As for the decorating, I tend to start inside on the first day of Autumn, or a little earlier if I really can't wait. However, since I start looking at new stuff to add around July, August area, any new swag is just left out. So I guess I cheat. Still, the idea of putting it out a little at a time sounds like a good one.
