Post by ramaries69 » Thu Sep 06, 2012 12:08 pm

Witchy, I thought of you when I saw these. I love witches, too. I don't know how I didn't notice, they had a different one out every year!!!! I'm picking up my first one, today. :)

Since my daughter is 15, I haven't bought Barbies in a few years. However, I always secretly loved doing it because I myself was an old Barbie fanatic. I may have to check into that doll--

I'm not a Barbie fanatic but ANYTHING, with a halloween twist or relation, is game.

Murf, since you sound like an avid Barbie collector, "Did you know these existed?" Apparently, they have a different one out, every year!!!!!!!!

I found these on the net from previous years.

My younger sister collected Barbie Dolls liek they were going out of style. She had more Barbie dolls and accessories than any one I know. I use to collect Hot Wheels. I had 3 different sets, and about 100 different cars, including some of the Sizzlers. Like my Aurora model monster collection, I gave them all to a child who lived across the street from us, the year we moved to arm pit New Lenox.

The Hot Wheels were no major loss, but those Aurora Monsters were great Halloween decorations, but my mom decided that I was "too old" for such childish obsessions and ordered the entire collection to the trash can. I gave them away instead. Now some of them are worth thousands, and are almost impossible to find.

I had Count Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, the Wolf Man, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Forgotten Prisoner of Castle Mar, and the Mummy. I put al of them together myself, using the 'glow-in-the-dark' pieces, so that when I would shine a bright light on them, they would brighten up. One year I was given an electronic flash unit, one of the very first available back in the early 70s, for my Birthday. That halloween, I would flash that flash unite at my monster collection, and they would floresce in a spooky way. It was great, and I did it every Halloween until Halloween of 1976. The Summer of 1977, the saddest Summer of my life, was when we moved to that New Lenox boredom factory, and I had to get rid of my monster collection. Halloween of 77 was the worst Halloween ever, but I won't go into that now.

They actually have a lot of those on Ebay if you look. You could always build another collection?

Great idea, Morticia. I actualy plan to do that when I have a little more money. Back in the early 70s, those kits only cost about a dollr-fifty.

Ramaries, I bought one or two for my daughter when she was younger, but I haven't bought them every year.

I won't go into my Barbie days in great detail. I had pretty much everything ever sold for Barbie in the early to mid '60s, including some rather fabulous stuff you probably never heard of. I was an only child, and that was my thing. I packed it away before I left home, and I thought it was safely tucked under the stairway at my mother's house. But when she died, someone broke in and cleaned her house out, including my Barbies (and the piano, and the appliances, and the crystals from the chandelier. . . . you get the picture). Somebody got a Barbie collection worth thousands.

I am not a collector these days. It is just nostalgic for me to see that stuff.

I bought her one for Christmas 10 years ago and got the catalogs at work for many years after.

I seem to recall one of you has an extensive collection of sci-fi dolls...

I bought a Bewitched Barbie, but my daughter played with her, so she is no longer in collectible condition. I noticed that my daughter took the broom from that doll and propped it up in her jewelry box recently (in the area with the racks for holding necklaces, with the glass door in front of it).
