AP wrong again...

AP today (May 8, 2006) has a story detailing the "Major Hurricane Season brewing" which is reprinted all over the place. It includes this:

There were 27 named storms...

Let's set the record straight again: 28 named storms (tropical storms and hurricanes) in 2005.

Not that it really matters, but one has to wonder how the AP missed it.

And again on May 22, 2006, AP against states 27 named storms. Nothing against the Associated Press (AP) but they are having serious trouble in getting the basic facts right.
