My hurricane season preparation

Have you been through a storm? What kind of tips, advice, and tricks can you share to help people prepare for a hurricane?

Those are some good tips! I got a LP (liquid propane) generator so it runs off of the big (500 gallon) tank in my yard which solves the problem of gas stations and needing to go out and buy gasoline. I live in Florida (northeast), but fortunately haven't needed to use it for more than an hour or so yet...
