That is an interesting article. The Corps should take some blame but a huge amount of blame is waste in the pat 40 years in spending tax dollars to prevent hurricane and tropical storm damage and flooding. The local New Orleans politicians who squandered 40 years of tax revenues to get themselves re-elected are also very responsible. The Corps is a nice scape-goat though.

How right you are Chris. Unfortunately my home state has a long history of political corruption...

Alas, I think it goes with the territory. When you have other people's money, in large quantities, with a large degree of discretion, there are enough people out there who are willing to yield to temptation.

As Lord Acton said, power corrupts....

And when you have so much power (via the purse, regulations, laws etc) over everyone else, few can be trusted with it.
