Re: The Halloween collectibles thread

Those are adorable. And of course Disney licensed products are sky-high.

I skimmed through the home decor. I saw a lot of Haunted Mansion and some NBC, but no Hocus Pocus.

Re: Classic Halloween photos

That's really cute. I never saw that before.

And, yes, I recall 1975 quite vividly. I was 20 years old, and it was the year I left home. Weird how looking back over all those eventful years, a half century doesn't feel as long as it does when you're looking ahead.

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

Well, I started early with my Halloween movie viewing. I watched Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, always my kick off to the season. I tried to hold back, but I was weak.

Re: Catching up

I'm glad there are no rules about burying pets around here, because we actually have an informal pet cemetery in our backyard. Too bad you had to do that sad chore in the dark. That's wild, about the crazy guy in your store. Thank goodness it was no more serious than it was. I think you handled it v...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

I just did a quick Google search. The governing body is USA Fencing, and if you put in your zip code, they'll tell you what's close by. Murfreesboro doesn't currently have any clubs, but Nashville has three. My husband has said that some of the best fencing he's seen in American movies is the scene ...

Re: Catching up

Oh, yes, I've told him. They weren't big secrets, just more talk about the way she had felt about certain things in her youth. Her grandparents had divorced, which was unusual back in the day, and she told me her perspective on that, eg. I also asked her about the first president she remembered, whi...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

Thete was a vogue for calligraphy back in the 80s. I don't hear much about it anymore, but I bet there are still some who do it. I haven't looked up fencing in maybe 20 years, but it's still an Olympic sport, so for sure people are doing it. There must be a governing body, like the National Fencing ...

Re: Catching up

Losing your memory in old age is by no means a given, and there are different reasons people do suffer memory loss. I think most older people with memory loss suffer from varying degrees of senile dementia, which happens when they can recall 50 years ago, but not this morning. That happened to my MI...

Re: It looks like the Halloween season is starting early this year

Well, as long as her killer instincts are channeled through socially acceptable competition, like sports and academics, that could be a very good thing. My husband and also my older son did some fencing in their youth. As is true of other sports, people can win college scholarships if they are serio...

Re: Catching up

Not at all. I think that's fascinating. Good memories run in my family, too, but nothing quite like yours. I also remember my third birthday quite vividly, for good reasons not bad, and I probably also have a few from before that. My mother could remember when she learned to walk. Apparently it was ...

Lol. I agree that your pronunciation is better. Although your girls are studying martial arts, so maybe the other pronunciation would work, too.
