Hatchet 2 (2010)

Post by iHaunt » Tue Aug 31, 2010 12:00 am

Looks like Hatchet 2 has given a big middle finger to the MPAA. When it opens in October, the film will be released in an "UnRated" form :@: AMC Theaters. This will make it the largest unrated threatrical release in 25 years. :?

The sequel Danielle Harris, Tony Todd and Kane Hodder(reprising his role as Victor Crowley). ;)

Anybody looking forward to Hatchet 2? :D

Was the original based on the book by Gary Paulson?

I've seen it and own the Blue Ray, and I love it. Its just as good as the first one, and one of the only horror franchises to have a sequel thats as good (In this case maybe even better than) the first. Ranks with Nightmare, Evil Dead and Amityville IMO. I feel they did a really good job trying to keep it current and not focus much on the backstory as we already learned all we could. I felt the pacing was alittle too abrupt and inturn made al of the little jump scares void as they were lost in with the rest of the action. The effects were amazing (Table decapitation, skinning via spine pulling), and you got to see all the gore, instead of them panning away at the last second, which in this movie's case, wouldn't have worked well. First great original slasher movie and concept in a long time, and certainly sets the standard or anyone who dares to tread its territory afterwards. Green and co, are doing with Hatchet with a smaller budget, what huge studios should be able to do with all the big name remakes, and aren't. Imagine if he had done both or either of the Nightmare and Friday remakes, instead of Fuller and Form?

Over all a solid 9/10 for me. Alot of good horror out last/this year so far.

I really did enjoy the first part, not the second part... but, this second part has Danielle Harris in it! So, for some of those you don't know who she is... she used to play in Halloween 4 and 5, also Halloween 2 (remake). ;)
