Very interesting in deed. By the way, Ireland, is in fact, the birth place of Halloween as we know it. "Trick or Treat," Bobbing for Apples, dressing up in a costume and even carving jack o'lanterns (notice the apostrophie in o'lantern) were all started by the Irish. The Irish used turnups instead of pumpking for their Jack O'lanterns, however, because Pumpking are indigidious to the Americas, and were not used until later years.
And acccordig to Irish lor, "Jack O'Lantern" was so mean that God would not allow him into Heaven when he died, and the devil wouldn't have him in hell either, so "Jack" roams the Earth, and is especialy powerful on Halloween night, so people would carve a "jack o'lantern" in order to ward him off, as well as other evil spirits.
