Goblins...part of Halloween?
We know that Goblins are some kind of...creature in folklore that usually has some kind of evil intent. But have you ever heard the term "Ghosts and Goblins?" I've heard this a lot as a kid when it came to Halloween, and perhaps in cartoons.
Well, I've most certainly seen the ghost part, we all know what ghosts are. But what about Goblins? How come I've never actually seen them being part of Halloween decorations?
They've shown up in J.R.R. Tolkien's the Hobbit. They're definately a dark, sinister creature.
But I almost never seen them being referenced to in Halloween decor, or even in costumes.
Are there any references to Goblins in Halloween? Or are they just...another mythological horror creature? Then again, I would think any creature of Horror would fall under the Halloween jurisdiction. But I don't see Trolls or Ogres in Halloween decorations either.
What do you guys think? Halloween and Goblins? Yes or No?

This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I'd say yes, with a slightly broader definition of "goblin" than just the little green pointy eared Harry Potter Dungeons and Dragons version. When I hear "goblin", I think ugly, mischievous little critters out to make trouble, and that certainly jives with the Halloween trick or treat spirit.

I think the same thing about chihuahuas.

As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

You're kinda sorta partly right, but also mostly wrong. My chis aren't ugly.

Chihuahuas (and other tiny dogs) make excellent bait for training falcons.

My very first yard decoration was a plastic tombstone with a gobblin behind it. She has a shock of pink hair that flows down her back and flashing red eyes. Her eyes don't work anymore because she is almost 20 years old. But, I still love her.
Her name is Sally.

That's awesome shanda! It's those classic Halloween items that can really warm our hearts during the Halloween season.
I myself have a few special Halloween items that stay out all year round.
I suppose the saying lends itself to some truth then, at least regarding the folklore behind Halloween.
Oh and Macphantom your chihuahuas are cute.
