I remember Goosebumps. My older boy (now 22) was really into those books when he was in the second grade. Then the TV series came a year or so later. R. L. Stine, right?
I think creativity is a central draw for those of us who love Halloween. As I said, for me, it is the great holiday of imagination. All of you are talking about different "triggers" for you, but one constant seems to be a strong creative streak.
