Kids love Halloween!

The get to dress up and get free candy! What a perfect holiday! Give your kids some precious Halloween memories that theyll have for life. Trick or treating isn't what it used to be. It's not as safe to let kids walk the streets alone.

Send a responsible adult or older teenger with them.

Treating your kids to a spooky Halloween dinner will make them less likely to eat the candy they collect before you have a chance to check it for them.

Help your child pick out or make a costume that will be safe. Make it fire proof, the eye holes should be large enough for good peripheral vision.

Make sure that if your child is carrying a prop, such as a scythe, butcher knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough not to cause injury if fallen on.

Teaching your kids basic everyday safety such as not getting into cars or talking to strangers, watching both ways before crossing streets and crossing when the lights tell you to, will help make them safer when they are out Trick or Treating.

Since my Fiance and I are SO into Halloween, his 5 year old daughter, Alex is as well. I've really made a point to take her with me when I go to Halloween stores, or go out shopping for decorations. She loves every minute of it. With the wedding this year, she's not going to be able to wear a regular costume (she has a beautiful dress that matches mine) we're getting her one of those ride on costumes that looks like a pink dragon. Watch out world....Here comes the next generation...lol

No, I got this information from Fox Hall Informer newsletter that someone put the flyer from door to door yesterday, so I looked at it and it was good idea to post here. ;)

But, I didn't know if that was on the main page of this Halloween.com and I will check it out myself. Thanks for letting me know. 8)

There are loads of Halloween safety links on the main page. I read them all and they seem very similar to those. No problem btw.

The safety tips are good if you have younger siblings like I do.

Staying Safe!

And lastly, be safe out there. If you are going out to do some good old-fashioned trick-or-tricking, keep these things in mind:

Take along a flashlight.

Walk on the sidewalks when possible.

Costume should be of a flame-retardant material.

Costumes should be light-colored or be reflective.

Stay clear of open fires and candles.

No running.

Bring along an adult or older teenager.

Have fun, but be safe.

Have an adult inspect your treats.

Never enter a home, even if you are invited.

Never walk up to a strange dog or other animal, because your costume might scare that animal and you could be bitten.

Don't ride your bicycle if your costume has long, hanging materials that can get caught in sprockets, wheels, etc.

Just a few safety tips I thought of off hand.
