How about a Halloween.com IRC channel?

Post by Alan Wake » Mon Apr 20, 2009 3:03 pm

Hey guys. I noticed a "Live Chat/IM" tab on the UCP bar, but it doesn't work. Do you think we should start up a Halloween.com live chat? I've got one in mind that I can embed in a forum topic. Is anyone up for the idea of one?

Im not exactly dying to chat. The forum is just my pace. But to whoever wants to, go nuts I guess. But unless Halloween.com grants it, I don't exactly think you can call it the official chat place for Halloween.com. Might wanna PM him or see if he replys to this thread.

It's just set up if anyone wants to, I'll edit the link out until I get a reply from HalloweenCom.

I thought Halloween.com's chat section works. I used it one time last halloween, seemed to work then but I haven't used it since.

It just spits out a bunch of error code now.

I've noticed the error codes as well. But even when I did go into the chat and back when it did work no one was on it anyway.
I'm all up for a new chat if people are up to talking in it. But we'd all have to plan a time to meet in the chatroom because other wise it's kind of a hit and miss.
But like NOS said it's up to HalloweenCom, he's the man in charge.
If not, there's always instant messenger. :D

Regardless of what happens with Halloween.com, thumbs up for the desire to bring us together in chat. If nothing else you could make it your personal chat and invite Halloweenmaniacs in there to chat.

Phase One of my plan was just a private chat (Run by me with admin privs, unless HalloweenCom wants to get in on the action. Then he would have admin privs too.) and I would just promote Halloween.com members to chat on it. Phase Two, if it should happen, would be if HalloweenCom wants to make an official one. Be it different, or the same.

So, let's take a vote. Who wants me to make a private chat so you guys can chat on it?

It doesn't make any difference to me. But I would get Halloweencom's permission before trying to put a chat on here.
If it's a private chat....well that might be different.

It seems to me that if Halloween.com wanted the chat they would have it operational and deicated to this specific site. I think you may have a hard time getting approval from the site.

Chats are nice, but isn't there some liability issues when there is site sharing that can be costly?

Dont get me wrong I wouldn't mind a chat at all, I just think it might be hard to do.

Ya know, Im actually liking this idea. THe easiest way to avoid any issues with this site and all the hoops one would need to jump through is mIRC. I havent used mIRC in some years, however I know the Undernet is still active, I think all one needs to creat a perm room there is 10 supporters (If it hasn't changed) Im ready for it
