I've heard Pumpkin man mention it, but I don't really know what or when it is. Is it supposed to be midnight?
I know it has something to do with Halloween I think, so I thought I would ask here and see if anyone knew. Does it have something to do with witches?
So can anyone tell me what the Witching Hour is? And maybe we can discuss it here.

I always thought it was midnight, but I really don't know. That's an interesting question, actually. Maybe it does have some kind of history.

it's not really Halloween related, it means the midnight hour when all the spooks come out........
Witching hour refers to the notion from folklore of the time at night when supernatural powers are at their most effective.
the hour after midnight, when witches and other supernatural beings were thought to be active

I'm reminded that in the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose, they make much of 3 a.m. In that movie, it is said that the demonic hour is 3 a.m., in parody of the hour at which Christ is supposed to have died on the cross, 3 p.m. I wonder how that bit of folklore figures into this discussion?

I always thought if spooks, witches, monsters and such were involved, then it is Halloween related.
Although it may not always exclusively be Halloween. The witching hour may always be the hour after midnight.
Just like how a werewolf isn't going to be exclusively a Halloween thing. Traditionally they always transform at the full moon. Traditionally...though it depends on the folklore you're going by. Actually the full moon thing I think was started by the movie industry.
Speaking of haunted times of the night...if anyone's ever watched Gremlins...you'd know that a Mogwai is NEVER to eat after midnight. However...they never clarify when it's safe for them to eat again without transforming into a Gremlin.
