Horror film collection for Halloween marathons
I had to sell all my entertainment due to tough times in Phx. But Amazon.com is great for collecting films brand new or like new for serious low prices. Because of that I now have my absolute bare bone essentials back in possesion. Now that I have the skeleton, its time to add some meat.

What are your 'must-keep' movies?
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I gave this one some serious thought, and even though I'm tempted to put the originals of Halloween and Nightmare on Elm St. and The Shining, it seems like they show them on tv enough, so that if I had to pick my absolute, bare bones, can't live without essentials, I'd probably pick Night of the Living Dead and 28 Days Later.Andybev01 wrote:What are your 'must-keep' movies?
Glad I don't have to choose. Good luck with the rebuilding, Nos!

I liked the look and premise of 28 days, however I don't care for 'fast' zombies.MacPhantom wrote:I gave this one some serious thought, and even though I'm tempted to put the originals of Halloween and Nightmare on Elm St. and The Shining, it seems like they show them on tv enough, so that if I had to pick my absolute, bare bones, can't live without essentials, I'd probably pick Night of the Living Dead and 28 Days Later.Andybev01 wrote:What are your 'must-keep' movies?

They should be slow and easy to mock, like the ones in Shaun Of The Dead.
Great movie that.

Re: Horror film collection for Halloween marathons
I stand corrected, I am missing one of the bare bone must haves...Night Of The Living Dead.
But my barebone collection consists of....
Friday the 13th Box set Parts 1-8 and special features
Freddy Vs Jason
Friday The 13th (2009)
Psycho (original)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Halloween III Season of the Witch (Yep, call me nuts, but I love it)
Christine
The Fog (original)
Phantasm
and 2 that I have which aren't barebones are.....
The Documentery- His name is Jason
Sweeney Todd Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Now, all of that having been clarified let me state that the rest of the movies I want back make for a rather long list.

I just saw Sweeny Todd. Not bad for a musical horror film.
I agree with the rest except for Season of the Witch.
I also love Scream.

Re: Horror film collection for Halloween marathons
There are so many good ones...so many have been mentioned all ready but I would also say the Hammer Horror films with Christopher Lee as Dracula were good ones to have on hand...
The original Universal Monster movies (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The mummy...) Then the Abbot and Costello meets Frankenstein was also a classic.
Monster Squad, Hocus Pocus, The Lost Boys, Salem's Lot, The Craft....there are many more I bet I am not thinking of.

Its heaven and hell, oh well

I enjoy the Sci Fi classics like Night of the Living Dead and 28 Days Later, but for Halloween, I gravitate more towards the gothic ot traditional monster movies like Dracula and The Wolf Man. I also love a good 'haunted house' story in October.
