Dress Up or Decor?

I enjoy decorating, more than, dressing (costume) up for Halloween? I could do without getting into the costume! I get my thrills from peoples' reaction over my decor. Anyone else feel the same?

Yeah, I invest more in my decorations than I do costumes. But I don't TOT, I just pass out candy so I really don't have need for a costume. Now if someone would actually throw a party, then it would be a different story. I usually just wear some kind of a Halloween shirt. I got two cool ones from Riptapparel.com last year--one had jack-o-lanterns all over it and the other one was a costume party where everyone was some kind of monster dressed as something else.

I'm more into the dressong up. More so to see peoples reaction. I also like seeing the idea of your costume in your head coming to reality.

I just enjoy scaring people, whether through decor or costume. When I was at the Spirit store earlier I waited till the little girl walked past with her momma then I hit the button on one of the animated props. Little girl almost jumped out of her skin. Some day she'll thank me for that, or she'll be a nervous wreck. I didn't think of that.

What was the line from the movie 'When Good Ghouls Go Bad'? "If kids can't learn how to be scared when they are kids, how are they going to cope with the real world when they grow up?" Or something like that.

I like the decorations more than the costumes.

It's like Wednesday Addams said "I'm a homicidal maniac- they look just like everyone else."

I like to guess about folks when I'm in public.
"is that guy a killer? Is that old lady actually a ghost?"

I love to decorate more the best than costumes. I do love yard haunt display every year in October. ;) This year I only will do decorate a little bit because me and my girlfriend are going to Halloween party at her best friend's house. :D

Decorations! We dress up if we go to a Halloween party, but we haven't been to one for a few years. We always get complements from the parents of the TOTers. The kiddies love our decorations too. :)

Now that I'm 18 I'm probably going to invest more of my time into decorating because I usually don't go to or wouldn't really want to go to costume parties.

My sister plays the game "is that guy a killer?" all the time! But I think it's because she watches that Discovery I.D. channel ALL THE TIME. She probably thinks everyone is a killer...including me

Both, for me. I love to decorate the house, but the masquerade was always a huge draw for me from my childhood. Not that I am particularly inventive about it, or invest a lot of money in it. I frequently fall back on some variation of the witch. When I was younger I enjoyed playing the seductive enchantress, but now I guess I'm moving more into crone territory and rather enjoying that, too. I have also gone as ghosts, ghouls, and grim reaper types over the years. I have always tended to stay within the parameters of the traditional Halloween spooks, though I enjoy seeing people costume as personalities from pop culture, or historical figures, etc.

I also own several Halloween-themed shirts, and there have been times, when I was working more on the kids' costumes, when I just pulled on one of those to hit the street. Anything seasonal works, really. I am uncertain how this Halloween is going to go for me. If my daughter, now 14, TOTs, I believe she will go with friends in another neighborhood, and without me. I may end up staying home to hand out candy, but I will have to costume even to do that. I will miss seeing other people's displays, though. I have loved that all these years, walking the streets and seeing what other people have dreamed up.
