Halloween Is Near!

Post by iHaunt » Sat Oct 01, 2011 11:22 pm

Well, Halloween is coming up. I know I've been working at the cemetery since spring here and there. Started putting some stuffs out yesterday.

What's everyone do for Halloween? Have you been done building props and everything else?

Love to hear from everyone who haunts their house. ;)

We've got our decorations up inside the house, just probabaly going to add a couple more things.

We're going to do a little cemetery out in the garden too. I've got to cut the grass though first, which i'll hopefully be able to do tomorrow. I'll then hopefully get it sorted by the weekend or on the weekend.

We'll then just have to do the front door & front windows then. :D

My local supermarket will start selling their main decorations on Tuesday. They get better & better every year. Hopefully i'll be able to pick up a few more tombstones there too! :D

I've built the faux boards for my windows to make the house appear abandoned. In the next 2 weeks I'll build my massive spiders. We have a "web day" scheduled for the 15th. Several friends coming over to help us absolutely cover the house. And I need someone to get on the ladder because I most certainly do not like getting on the second story roof!

We have 12 trees scheduled to be taken out this coming week so many Halloween preparations have been put on hold until this is over with and cleaned up. In the meantime I've been working on spreading the Halloween cheer. I've made some greeting cards which will be mailed this week and my husband and I ran through the street last night "Booing" the neighbors. If you've never heard of this, you must Google it. It's a riot! We had such a blast playing ding-dong-ditch with Halloween goodies! LOL! I hope it catches on but if not, I'll be happy that I could at least bring some Halloween joy to a couple neighbors.
I've met The Great Pumpkin.

I can't wait for Halloween. I'm reading horror stories.

Time to decorate!!
Skin all bone-china white
O you were a vampire
And I may never see the light

I've started my indoor decorating. I'm a bit behind due to not feeling well, but I'm plugging away at it. Here are two characters that I've had for a few years, but just put together this year. I may keep them together, I think they work.

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

Yes I am! ;) I work at Forest Lawn Cemetery. :)

By the way, some of you know that I will not decorate so much stuff on front yard b/c me and my gf will attend to her best friend's Halloween party so my grandpa will only stay at home to giveout the candies. :) Also, I already sold of my Halloween props since the first day of October and I got $1,959.00! :D

I can feel my blood start racing and the inner child in me come alive as Halloween gets closer. I start to pay attention to the leaves as they fall and the way the wind whisteles through the trees. At night I study the sky and zoom in on the moon and look to see if a Silhoutte of a witch flies across...I let the clouds dance and play tricks on my eyes as they swim across the moon and I feel that chill in the air as the Solstice draws near. Noises in the street or the shuffling of leaves sharpen my senses. Woodsmoke fills the air and makes me dream of eons ago how early celts and druids must have viewed their world and how there was an anxiousness and dread as Halloween approached or Samhain...what would the year hold for them?

I scour the TV stations and internet for Halloween programming and movies...I hit all of the Halloween stores to check out what is new and maybe find that hidden gem I am missing in my collection or for my displays...this is the best time of the year for me...the happiest time as well...it's wonderful to be able to share that with all of you because all of you 'get it'...and for that, I absolutely am thankful for you all!!

Midnite

Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens

Its heaven and hell, oh well
