Zombie invasion, what would you do?
Dunno if this has been posted... feel free to flame if it has.
But yeah, zombies are suddenly everywhere and there's no other living person anywhere that you're aware of. You're in a neighborhood, looking through the window of your house. There's only a few zombies shuffling around on the street, looks like you have a clear shot to run to your car.
There's a mall a few miles away that's deserted, there's a Walmart a mile away, and there's a gunshop across town that's most likely locked up and deserted.
What do you do?

Re: Zombie invasion, what would you do?
I've discussed this many times with my neighbors, our plan is to knock out the staircase leading to my apartment, break through the wall into my brothers place next door, climb onto the roof, then use a zipline from the trees to get onto the roof of the store across the street. There we will regroup, gather supplies and attempt to clear the area by sniping the undead from highest vantage point.
My secondary protocol is, if we become surrounded blend in with the crowd (reference to shaun of the dead) and zombie walk to safety

I know I've said this before , but I think a cemetery is a good place to hide. Preferably a rural cemetery. Here's my thinking. It's not likely to have people hiding inside. I have never been in a cemetery that didn't have squirrel, rabbit ,and the like running around day and night.(if you had to hunt) And unless every zed in the cemetery is Nemesis they are not coming out of those graves. Six feet of earth and a pine box should hold 'em.

I'd take my Punisher vest, my assorted blades and firepower, head to Walmart, take what I could (food, ammo, ect.), put it all in my truck, and head to the mall. My guess is survivors would head to the largest building and wait it out, so I'd hide out there. If I ran out of food, I'd hunt in the woods behind the property (setting snares and whatnot).

I like the idea of a fortress, if the local prison wasn't so damn far away from where I live thats probably where we'd head. if nothing can get out, nothing can get in right?

A zombie seems to run on instinct like an animal. Living people can plot and plan and go crazy. Which is the monster? Stay away from other surviors. At least the zeds only want to eat you.

Very true, and good point. But if zombies really did come, would you avoid the rest of the folks here on the forum if you knew you could meet up?Corvus Kulde wrote:A zombie seems to run on instinct like an animal. However, there is strength in numbers. I've taken survival training before (not trying to sound like a hard@ss, just sayin), and I know how to weed out the weak members of a group and focus on people's strengths. If someone flips out while I'm around, I'm breaking their legs and tossing them outside so I can watch them be torn apart from the mall's glass doors.
There's also the option of fortifying your home and staying put, but unless you've stockpiled food and munitions, you're f**ked.

There's wisdom there.MacPhantom wrote:I would enjoy the little things.
As to survivors... I know what a zed wants right away, but the living are freaky. Let the zombie apoc. occur and a million weirdos will be screaming "Master Blaster rules BarterTown!' All will collect ears. (As well as other dangly objects) And few will mind if "You 'ain't the perdiest thang in town"
If you are traveling with a loved one
If you are NOT into backwoods key parties = Stay away from other survivors!
If you want to survive
Zombie is to rabid wolf
As man is to rabid werewolf (with guns)
Not to sound cynical..

There's some zombie thing on June 13th that started back in 2007 called Blog Like It's The End of the World (BLITEOTW)... wherein you write about a zombie invasion happening in your hometown... sounds a lot like this thread.

Re: Zombie invasion, what would you do?
First I would look for something to hit them in the head with guns are good but run out of ammo. A bat a pipe an umbrella oh and stuff to make fire Zombies tend to not like fire . Then you can run to the mall unless you feel you can completely secure then you would need supplies either the mall or the Walmart; both could be secured and would have what you need. But long term survival probably is not an option
