MacHaggis was a merry gent,
He lived in Beauly town;
And every time that guts were served,
He gobbled them right down!
He'd eat of sheep, he'd eat of cow,
He'd eat of pig and duck;
But one day none of these were found,
MacHaggis had no luck!
"I must hae guts tae eat!" he said
"I cannae dae wi'oot!
Fir eatin' guts is whae I am,
It's wha' I'm a' aboot!"
But then the tides of fortune changed,
His luck he would recoup;
For came a knock upon his door,
The postman on his stoop!
"Come in!" MacHaggis said with glee,
"Yer jist in time, my frien'!"
And from our kindly Postman Bob,
We've never heard again!
