Anyway, thank the mighty internet and Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th

A friend of mine from there in Rome, Italy told me that he doesn't think it's unlucky. Friday the 17th that is unlucky, but don't care about that either. :?

I just thought I woudl give you all a little reminder that TOMORROW is Friday the 13th. It's time to break out a couple of decorations for "Little Halloween." I am going to put out one of my plastic jack o'lanterns, and screen "House of Frankenstein," after I get home from work. Unfortunately I have to video tape a play tomorrow, so I won't be home until late, but I will be up for the "witching hour."

I completely missed it. I woke up on Saturday morning, looked at my watch, and realized it was Saturday the 14th.

I choose to invoke my Fifth Amendment rights and decline to answer the question on the grounds that it might tend to incriminate me.

MacPhantom, that's really too bad because there isn't going to be another Friday the 13th until August of 2010. 2010 is going to be very slim pkickings.

My "Little Halloween" believe it or not, was not all that fabulous, either. I had to video tape a play, and I didn't get home from work until 11:30. I still put out a fake jack o'lantern and screened "House of Frankenstein," but it would have been nicer if I could have gotten home from work a little sooner. I made a nice piece of O T change, though.

At least there was a bright side to it. :)

If it's a choice between a party or extra money, I'd probably take the cash before the bash.

August, eh? Hmmmm....

well our little Halloween went really well... i can't even remember the last few hours of it hahaha
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I have to agree with MacPhantom on that one. Cash is a lot more important then bash, and as he pointed out, the more cash, the greater the bash.

On a serious note, August 13th, 2010 is the ONE AND ONLY Friday the 13th we are going to get in 2010. Like I said, 2010 is going to be slim pickings, BUT August is usualy when that Halloween bug starts to bite. What better way to scratch that "itch," then with a celebration of "Little Halloween" on Friday August 13th?

My friend told me Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky number because:

Twelve gods were invited to a banquet at Valhalla. Loki, the Evil One, god of mischief, had been left off the guest list - but crashed the party, bringing the total number of attandees to 13. True to character, Loki raised Hell by inciting Hod, the blind god of winter, to attack Balder the Good, who was a favorite of the gods. Hod took a spear of mistletoe offered by Loki and obediently hurled it at Balder, killing him instantly. All Valhalla grieved. And, although one might take the moral of this story to be "Beware of uninvited guests bearing mistletoe", the Norse themselves apparently concluded that 13 people at a dinner party is just plain bad luck.
