Next Halloween

All the mainstream holidays are done and over with. Time to start planning for Halloween 2010. Any new, original ideas?

I have a good one for 2012!... but, sorry... not sharing yet.

I'm trying to decide between Old West and Steampunk this year. *cringe*
... and then I have to decide how involved I want to get... assuming I do anything for Halloween this year. I might be studying to take the Professional Engineering exam on October 29th. >_<

I'd go with Steampunk if I were an engineer.

I had lots of good plans that might not happen since we're getting kicked out of our house :(

January is a little late.... I usually start talking about Halloween on November 1st! Hehe.

Andy- I'm leaning heavily that way... but I'd have to sew something up... and my ideas for costumes are just... Eh... well... taking an 1880's walking jacket pattern and modding it.

Say... the first thing here... is what I'm leaning at. Jacket only.

There are many patterns listed on that page, is it the first one?

There's still 4th of July, Valentines day, and St Patric's Day you know.

St Pat's Day?... isn't that a holiday about little green men obsessed with gold?
(Sounds pretty Halloween to me...)

... and do you know how many horror movies are released in February? Like this year's Wolfman! Woo!

... as for the 4th of July... nothing says "Halloween" like a bunch of colorful explosions representing "bombs bursting in air" which signify all the bloodshed in the American Revolutionary War-- a war to win our independence to celebrate HALLOWEEN!
(Bloodshed sounds pretty Halloween too...)

Yeah, yeah... I know... I'm just giving you grief. =)

Ok, I admit, Fourth of July is still to be anticipated. But Valentines Day is pointless as well as St. Patrick's Day.

I would say Valentines Day is just as worthless as Halloween. Saying Valentines Day is worthless, is purely an opinion.

As a resident of Arizona and on behalf of residents of Deleware... I implore you to cease your mockery of Statehood Day! (I'm slightly joking.)

... and as an engineer, I'd like to say that this year Engineers Week starts on Statehood Day!

It's NEVER "too soon" to think about something you love. I think about Halloween year-round so I can plan a budget, save fundage, sew costumes, plan and organize... and still have time to do other things I love. I spread my planning and preparations out so I have time to do what I'd like to do. For example, if I hadn't started sewing my pirate coat in February last year, I probably wouldn't have finished it before October. I had to modify the pattern (I like pockets) and hand-stitch trim around button holes-- each piece of trim took 2 hours to stitch... and there were roughly 28 pieces of trim... but I still had time to work on my wedding scrapbook, volunteer for MathCounts-- TWICE, buy a house and move... (among other things).

If you don't want to think about Halloween year-round, that's cool... but some people (like me) do think about it year round and we enjoy it! =)
