Apparently the musical Jekyll & Hyde is going to be returning to Broadway soon, so I think I am going to re-read the Robert Louis Stevenson original.

Just started reading Koontz's Frankenstein series during lunch. I've already read the first three but not the newest ones. Figured I'd reread those to refresh my memory.
Both the monster and Victor have survived into the modern age. Dr Frankenstein is still up to his old tricks, playing god. The monster, who now calls himself Duecalion, upon finding out his creator is still alive resumes his mission to destroy him.
You may remember the 2004 TV movie. Koontz, along with Kevin J. Anderson, wrote the original script for it but was upset with the changes the producers wanted so he disassociated himself, then went on to write the book series. Originally he was going to write a series of three trilogies but the cover of the fifth book says it's the final volume. Bummer. I just heard the other day a big screen movie is in the works. It seems Frank is about to come back in vogue along with vampires and zombies. I, Frankenstein and Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein are soon to be released.

Ha! I love this part from the first Frankenstein book, 'Prodigal Son'. The lady had just spent the morning in the bathroom after discovering the body, saying she couldn't possibly throw up any more. She's talking to the two detectives, Michael and Carson.
"Bobby was sort of a geek. But why would someone cut out his heart?"
Michael shrugged. "Souvenir. Sexual gratification. Dinner."
Apalled, repelled, Nancy Whistler bolted for a toilet stall.
To Michael, Carson said, "Oh, nice. Real nice."
I actually laughed out loud. That has to make it into the movie!

I really liked Brian Lumley's Necroscope, it's one of the best books I have ever read. I hope everyone like it!!

I read the first 8 books of the Necroscope series. The first book was the best, most scariest of them all.

I have read them all too, I loved them all, but the first one was the best one of the series.

I just watched the movie that the Frankenstein books were based on. It really isn't half bad. Pretty spooky. I really don't see what Koontz was so upset about. They dropped some of the subplots and condensed the story but if all that was in Koontz's original script there's no way they could have fit it into a two hour movie. I would have liked to seen more of the original monster but at least they used the line about having the heart for dinner. I guffawed.
With the slew of Frankenstein movies about to come out you may want to hurry and rent this if you're interested. I'm still having trouble getting Dark Shadow episodes thanks to that movie.

BTW: It was supposed to be three movies so don't be disappointed when this one ends with a lot of questions unanswered. Just have to read the books.
