I got my real christmas tree Sunday and put it in my house with lights and everything on it. Look good and make house smell pine nuts for sure. The tree type is Scotch Pines and it is 7 foot tree. :)

I love real trees but will be putting up an artificial one this year. It saves on $$ for us and looks pretty when decorated. We have a wreath and a table centerpiece made out of real fir for the scent.

A lot of people prefer an artificial tree these days, and it does save money in the long run. You can even buy pre lit trees, but I am too much of a traditionalist to do that myself. I actualy enjoy the "hassel" of finding and picking out a decent looking tree, and then putting the lights on it. Then the real fun is my Tree Trimming Party which I have after it's up and the lights are on.

That's what we did when I was a pup. Mom, Dad and most of us kids who were still living at home would go out and shop for the Christmas tree. We actualy would get 2 trees every year. One for our basement family room and one for the living room. Dad and my older brother, and in later years I, would put the lights on it. Then we would say a blessing over it, and then our cousens would come over to trim it up, and it would be a really fun party. Some of my favorite childhood Christmas memories are of those wonderful tree trimming parties we use to have. My mom allways made STELLAR spagheti, too. That's where I picked up on the tradition.

I do miss the annual tradition of picking out a real tree.

I think maybe more people are getting the real trees this year. I have been seeing more of them for sale around town than I did a few years ago.

That's a good price these days. How tall is it? And what kind of tree?

That was a fantastic price, then.

Back when I used to buy trees regularly, my favorite was always some type of fir--balsam, Fraser, Douglas. Those smelled so good! I don't think I ever got a Scotch pine. In my childhood and youth, they were more expensive.

But I remember paying $18 for a fir tree back in the late '70s, and I thought that was a superb price then.

I get this tree at Lowes hardware store. They did have Douglas Fir tree for around $30, but Scotch Pine is cheapest they have. Fraser Fir is more expensive for sure.

OR skip the tree altogether and just build a fort out of all the presents that are supposed to go under one. I think I'm onto something here....
